Dose of Colors #DESIXKATY Collaboration: Hot Fire Matte Liquid Lipstick Review

Dose of Colors recently announced their collaboration with Youtube guru's Design Perkins and LustreLux (Katy), and I was lucky enough to snag a couple of products in this collection when it launched. One of the products I was able to purchase and was most excited for was the Hot Fire, a fiery orange red liquid lipstick with a velvet-matte finish. It's bold, it's different and I was ready to step out of my comfort zone.

According to its website, this liquid lipstick is a "velvety high-fashion matte finish which envelops lips in a rich color. Glides on smoothly and stays put throughout the day." This product is vegan and free of gluten, parabens and cruelty.

The Good:
  • Opaque color; there's no holding back on the fiery orange. This liquid lipstick applied almost like a neon red-orange. However, as bold as it is, I feel like this would work on all skin tones; especially, if you're tan!
  • Easy application; it glided smoothly on my lips
  • Didn't dry out my lips, in fact, it felt hydrated throughout the day.
The Bad:
  • If I'm purchasing a matte liquid lipstick that claims to last throughout the day, that's what I'm expecting. However, that was not the case for this product. I had high hopes after patting my fingers on my lips after application; it seemed like it wouldn't budge. But, throughout the day I had to be careful with what/how I ate and worry if there was lipstick on my face/teeth as there would be transfer on my napkin or hands. Colourpop's Satin Lipsticks stays put better on my lips than this.
Final Verdict:

As scared as I was with Hot Fire and my initial reaction to this product ("holy crap it's bright"), I love this liquid lipstick and have been wearing it almost every day since I received it in the mail! I receive so many compliments whenever I have it on - another plus! It's bold, it's bright, and it takes my makeup looks to another level without much effort. Most importantly, it keeps my lips looking nice and hydrated, not crusty. I just wish that it had a better staying power.

Purchase (product) on the Dose of Colors website!
