Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Glow Kit: Cleanser, Moisturizer and Treatment Review

If it wasn't obvious already, I'm a huge skincare junkie. I am willing to go the distance to find the best of the best to make my skin happy, regardless of its price. I've always been a fan of Kate Somerville products, like the DermalQuench LiquidLift and Goat Milk Moisturizing Cleanser (unfortunately, is now discontinued). So, when Influenster and KS reached out to me to test out their award-winning ExfoliKate line, I was more than excited and ready to put these babies to the test**.

Products/Claims: (description provided by KateSomerville.com)
  • ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer ($65): a duo of AHAs (glycol and lactic acids) combined with pineapple, pumpkin and papaya enzymes that instantly reduce the appearance of surface dullness and uneven skin texture to reveal beautiful, glowing skin.
  • ExfoliKate Cleanser ($38): a daily foaming cleanser that gently cleanses away oil, makeup and surface impurities to reveal softer, smoother skin.
  • Intensive Exfoliating Treatment ($85): an award-winning exfoliator that scrubs and polishes skin, revealing a smooth, healthy-looking, glowing complexion.

The Good:
  • Moisturizer: Truly a spa in a jar and quite possibly one of the best moisturizer I've ever used! After a few uses, I woke up to my skin feeling smoother, and looking vibrant and plump. It also smells amazing! Although it's pricer than most moisturizers, a little really goes a long way with this and will last for a long time.
  • Cleanser: My skin really felt clean after use, which is rare with most cleansers nowadays. It was gentle on my skin and like the moisturizer, a little goes a long way. I use this product once a day at nighttime after removing my makeup and I've noticed a huge difference in my skin. Not only did it help clear up my face from acne and bumps, it evened my skin tone and reduced the oil production. Thanks to this, I no longer have to blot my face throughout the day!
  • Exfoliating Treatment: I'm throughly surprised by this. After a minute of exfoliating (as it states on the bottle for sensitive skin), my skin feels immediate soft and isn't dried out like most exfoliators I've used in the past. It does what it says it does; exfoliates the dead skin on my face.
The Bad:
  • Cleanser: It's very easy to overdue the use of this product; especially if you have combination and sensitive skin. As it states on the bottle, you are to use this wash for 30 seconds, and although I only wash my face once a day, using it for 60 seconds caused dry patches on my skin after several usage. So, stick to the directions; they're there for a reason!
  • Exfoliating Treatment: This smelt awful, which is unfortunate because the moisturizer and cleanser was refreshing and made me feel like I was at a spa. However, if the scent of Fireball Whiskey triggers you, get ready to hold your nose for 2 minutes straight. I normally don't mind the scent of cinnamon, but this smell sent me back to endless party days during my freshman year of college. Oh boy.
Final Verdict:

Overall, I would recommend this line to everyone, even those with sensitive like myself! It's not harsh on the skin, but it does what it says it does with ease. However, if I had to choose an item that I recommend purchasing from this kit, it would definitely be the moisturizer. My face has not looked as fresh and felt this soft in a while, and that's saying a lot since my skin has been through a rollercoaster of change since I moved back from California a little over a year ago.

If you're willing to spend some more, the second item would be the cleanser. It's perfect for those who are lazy with their skincare routine; only 30 seconds and your face looks and feels clean. However, as a tip, I would recommend removing your makeup beforehand before using this product as it's not meant to be a makeup remover.

As for the treatment, I may have to give it more time to be convinced that I truly "need" this product in my weekly routine, especially at the cost of $85! This is not only due to the smell, but I haven't seen any life-changing results like this product has advertised to do.

What do you guys think? Will you be giving any of these items a shot? Have you tried any of these products before? Sound off in the comments!

xoxo, naomi
