Valjean Labs Facial Serum in Restore and Facial Mist in Glow - Review

During one of my bi-weekly trips to TJMaxx, I stumbled upon Valjean Labs. I'll admit, it was the minimalistic packaging that first caught my attention and for $6.99 each, why not? So, I picked up their Restore Facial Serum and Glow Facial Mist and headed my way home to try test them out.

Before I begin my review, let me just clarify that I have relatively good skin. I have occasional pimples depending on my stress levels and my face goes through hell and back when it's that time of the month. I have combination skin - I get oily but also have dry spots occasionally on my t-zone.

The reason for purchasing these items? Aside from the Urban Outfitters-approved packaging, I've always heard that Zinc helps with keeping acne at bay and I've always been a fan of Vitamin C on my skin - it keeps it looking fresh, hydrated and glowing!

Claims:

  • Facial Serum in Restore: From Urban Outfitters - the Restore serum claims to "calm blemish-prone skin with niacinamide + zinc to restore and rejuvenate."
  • Facial Mist in Glow: From Urban Outfitters - the Glow mist claims to "enhance radiance and luminosity with vitamin C and magnesium to revitalize and balance skin tone."

Pros:

  • Affordable price: Although I had snagged these products from TJMaxx for $6.99, these the serum retails for $15 and mist for $12 at Urban Outfitters.
  • Application: I love that it isn't a waiting game when it comes to either products. I just apply them onto my skin and I'm ready for the next step in my skincare routine! Both products sink into my skin effortlessly and I love that I can take Glow with me in my purse to hydrate my skin throughout the day!
  • Long-lasting: It's been a little over a month now and I'm not even halfway done with either products! I only have to use a few drops of the serum and a couple sprays of the mist and I'm good to go.
  • Facial Serum: The Restore serum does what it claims to do and I'm happy about that! However, if you have moderate to severe acne, this may not be your HG product.

Cons:

  • Fragranced: I love the smell of both of these products, although I know it can be a bother to those allergic/not a fan of scented skincare.
  • Facial Mist: Although I enjoy the Glow product, I feel like as a mist it doesn't do too much for me in terms of a proper skincare item. It's nice to be able to spray this on my skin on top of makeup throughout the day, but is it necessary and/or the best? Nah.

Final thoughts:
After using both these products for a solid month, I can honestly say that I'm now a huge fan of Valjean Labs! I've always been a little skeptical of the various serums and mists currently on the market since there has been a shift in using concentrated ingredients for skincare. However, both the Restore and Glow items really surprised me! Restore has continued to keep acne at bay for me, even during that dreaded time of the month and Glow is such a great toner to use in the morning and facial mist throughout the day to hydrate! The only suggestion I have to really get a good use out of Glow is to spray the product onto a cotton ball to apply onto the skin. Otherwise, it doesn't feel like any of the ingredients are really helping my skin (as a toner).

So, would I recommend these two items? I would say, go for the serum and skip on the mist. You aren't missing out on much with the Facial Mist and I've read that it has witch hazel in it - which I'll probably purchase separately once I'm done with Glow!

Have you tried these products out? What are your thoughts? Sound off in the comments below!
