Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer in No. 7 | Review and Swatches!

Point blank, I'm a very big fan of concealers. I believe this year alone I've tried out over 10 different concealers and therefore, I'd like to say that I'm a concealer connoisseur in my own right. Unlike most, I typically wear concealer to contour by applying only to the center of my face. However, when it comes to finding a truly good concealer, the ultimate test is finding a product that has the ability cover the dark circles and puffy bags under my eyes, which is honestly quite a challenge.

This is where Benefit comes in. They recently launched a new concealer called the "Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer," which is supposed to be the liquid form of their famous potted Boi-ing concealer. I've personally haven't had much luck with that specific concealer since it was too heavy for the skin under my eyes. Therefore, I'm curious to see if this lives up to the hype of the OG Boi-ing product.

Claims:
From Benefit's website, the new Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer is a "multitasking FULL COVERAGE liquid concealer [that] hides it all, from dark undereye circles to blemishes & discoloration.…yet it feels lightweight & doesn’t cake or crack. The Cushion Tip creates a smoother than smooth application and blends seamlessly for longwearing, waterproof coverage."

Pros:
  • Coverage: When they say full coverage, they mean it. I only had to use a small amount on my face and I didn't have to worry about layering up to cover my acne or dark circles. Not only was it full-coverage, but my skin looked airbrushed before I had the chance to set it with powder!
  • Long-wearing: I will admit, I haven't tried this concealer on for 24 hours like it claims. However, I wore this concealer on a windy, cold and rainy Oregon day for about 12 hours and this sucker stayed on.
  • Waterproof: As I had mentioned, I've worn this concealer on a rainy day recently with no umbrella or hood on me and to my surprise, my face was still flawless and didn't need any touching up!

Cons:
  • Application:
    • The thing with full coverage products is that it's easy to overdue it. Out of my own curiosity, I attempted to apply two layers of this concealer and it immediately felt heavy on my skin. Thankfully, one layer is all that you need with this!
    • This product doesn't work that well with a Beauty Blender I've noticed that the concealer sticks to the sponge and therefore, some product is wasted. Therefore, I would suggest blending out with your finger tips or with a foundation/concealer brush for a true full-coverage look, as well as not to waste any product!
  • Color Range: This could use some work. I noticed that my shade (medium-warm) was closer to the end of available colors and that's not OK. There's also a lot of pink undertone shades and not enough warmer tones. Let's step it up Benefit!

Final Thoughts:
One of my favorite concealers to date is Laura Mercier's Flawless Fusion Ultra Longwear Concealer. However, I think Benefit's Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer may have officially overthrown my number one to take the title of best concealer I've ever used to date. Simply put, it does it all and it does what it says it's supposed to do. Not only is it full-coverage, but it actually lasts on my oily-combination skin and that's what matters most to me. With most concealers, it typically rubs off due to my oily t-zone or creases like crazy under my eyes. However, this product stays matte where it's applied and it stays put for hours on end! A win-win! As I had mentioned earlier in my review, I had first worn this on a rainy day with no umbrella or hood to cover my face and to my surprise, this sucker didn't budge one bit. My only main gripe about this product is the application process. I've noticed that when I apply this with a Beauty Blender Sponge, some of the product sticks to my sponge more so than my face. Therefore, I would highly suggest using a foundation or concealer brush to apply this product to really get the full-coverage look, as well as not waste any product!
