Derma E Skin De-Stress Calming CBD Collection | Review

CBD has become popularized in recent years and now you can find them in skincare. After doing some thorough research, I found that CBD might be effective in fighting acne as it helps reduce the production of sebum within the skin. It can also help those with eczema and psoriasis as well. Since CBD is relatively brand new, research on its benefits is fairly limited. However, it's considered safe to use topically and is popular amongst those looking for a "calming" effect on muscle tension and injuries.

Lately, I've been experiencing a huge change in my skin as I've been dealing with various stressors, as well as changing up my birth control. So it's safe to say that I've had lots of hormonal acne appear on my skin these past few months. Thankfully, Derma E has my back and has sent over a box of goodies, which includes products from their new CBD line, which can hopefully help with my skin issues at the moment. Take a look below for my honest thoughts and feel free to sound off in the comments below of your favorite CBD products you've tried!

Derma E Skin De-Stress Calming CBD Cleanser, Moisturizer, and Serum

Derma E Skin De-Stress Calming CBD Cleanser
($14.95)

From their website: "Formulated with Hemp Seed Oil to moisturize sensitive skin, plus a unique Calming Complex of Pycnogenol® and Aloe Vera with Vitamins A, C and E to nourish and condition the skin."
  • Pros: Gentle enough for sensitive skin.
  • Cons: Does not thoroughly remove makeup.
Between this and the hydrating cleanser that I was sent, I liked this better in terms of hydration and calming my skin in the morning. However, if you are looking for a cleanser to remove makeup, I would look elsewhere. I think this is great as a morning cleanser because it is so light and gentle. Otherwise, I'm not sure if I will repurchase this after it's out — I would almost compare product to Cetaphil's cleanser.

Derma E Skin De-Stress Calming CBD Moisturizer ($19.99)

From their website: "Formulated with a unique calming complex phytocannabinoids to help nourish and smooth skin texture. With powerful, antioxidant-rich pycnogenol to help reduce the appearance of redness and early signs of aging for a brighter, healthier-looking complexion."
  • Pros: Lightweight and hydrating.
  • Cons: Not recommended for those looking for a rich moisturizer.
I'm thoroughly impressed with this moisturizer and will continue to use it until I'm out! Although I'm not sure I'm seeing a true "calming" effect on my skin, I will say that it has helped with keeping my skin hydrated, especially since I recently had a facial chemical peel. Overall, it's great for those with sensitive skin that is looking for a lightweight moisturizer. However, I'm not sure if I would repurchase since I'm not 100% sure if I'm seeing the true calming effects on my skin just yet.

Derma E Skin De-Stress Calming CBD Serum ($22.95)

From their website: "Our fragrance-free, fast-absorbing broad spectrum CBD serum is uniquely formulated with Phytocannabinoids to help soothe dry, uncomfortable skin and reduce the appearance of redness while Omega-6 and Omega-3 acids derived from Hemp Seed Oil promote a healthy, hydrated skin barrier function, reducing susceptibility to irritants."
  • Pros: Rich texture and moisturizing.
  • Cons: Not much different than the moisturizer product from the CBD line and is more expensive.
I believe that the serum and moisturizer pairs well if you are looking to add a little extra hydration to your skin since this product is so rich in texture. Otherwise, similar to the moisturizer, I'm not 100% convinced if the product is truly calming my skin. In fact, I feel like the cleanser had a better effect than the serum and moisturizer together. If you need a little extra hydration, I would recommend purchasing the serum over the moisturizer.

Derma E Essentials Universal Cleansing Balm ($15)

From their website: "This luxurious cleansing balm melts on contact and transforms into lightweight cleansing milk that instantly dissolves all makeup, dirt and excess oil buildup without overly drying the skin, leaving the skin supple, smooth and ultra-hydrated. Enriched with soothing extracts and nourishing vitamins for a deep, yet gentle cleanse."
  • Pros: Does what it says it does. It removes my makeup and sunscreen from my face without any issues. I like that it melts immediately when it hits my skin unlike other balms which requires a little more warming up. This cleanser also came with a little scoop for sanitation purposes!
  • Cons: It leaves a thin film on the skin after washing off with water. I've never had this experience with other cleansing balms before. However, it's no problem for me personally since I follow up with a cleanser.
Overall, I really enjoyed using this cleansing balm to my surprise! I had no issues with the ingredients since everything is washed off immediately and I follow up with my usual cleanser. I also like that this product makes my skin feel softer after each use, even though it does leave a film on top of my skin temporarily after washing with water. I'll continue to use this balm and will try comparing it to my favorite Farmacy Cleansing Balm — who knows, it could potentially be a cheaper dupe!

Derma E Hydrating Cloud Cleanser ($15.50)

From their website: "This ultra-hydrating facial cleanser is infused with Hyaluronic Acid, Chamomile, Lemon Grass and Papaya plus antioxidant Vitamins A and E to gently cleanse and condition skin for a soft, smooth, dewy feel with no drying, aging after-effects."
  • Pros: Gentle cleanser that removes impurities from your skin. Perfect for sensitive skin as there is no strong fragrance.
  • Cons: Not particularly hydrating for combination or dry skin. It also does not remove makeup 100%. I would highly recommend double cleansing with this product.
Overall, I had no true issues with this cleanser. If you have normal skin, this may be the perfect "gentle" cleanser for you that will remove any dirt and makeup from your face. However, if you have combination skin, this may not be as hydrating enough. For me, I prefer CeraVe's Hydrating Cleanser over this as I am able to see results immediately.

Derma E Lemongrass and Thyme Restoring Shea Body Lotion ($9.99)

From their website: "DERMA E’s Lemongrass & Thyme Restoring Shea Body Lotion nourishes and energizes the skin’s natural moisture barrier. Delightfully scented with a natural fragrance oil blend including natural Lemongrass and Thyme."
  • Pros: Ingredients are fantastic and it absorbs into the skin well.
  • Cons: I'm not a big fan of the scent. If you like the smell of lemongrass, then this is the lotion for you!
If you have normal skin and enjoy the smell of lemongrass, then the $10 price tag is fine for the amount you get. However, for those with naturally dry skin like myself, I would pass on this. Unfortunately, I didn't notice a significant different in my skin as I normally use the CeraVe cream to moisturize my skin. Therefore, I will be giving this to a friend to use.
